About Businesspoint, where ‘Challenge us’ is not a nice slogan for the website, but sometimes simply means that a complete interior has to be on site within a week.
Businesspoint supplies a wide range of sectors and looks not only at what is in stock, but at what a customer really needs. That can be a pallet of consumables, but through sister company Instyle Concepts also a complete project interior with custom furniture, kitchens, appliances and large tables. It is precisely with those larger and international shipments that transport becomes part of the promise.
‘Challenge us.’
It sounds good on a website. Until someone actually does it.
At Businesspoint that happened when a holiday home abroad had to be fully furnished within one week.
Not one desk. Not a box of pens. A complete interior.
Then purchasing suddenly becomes planning. Planning becomes shuffling. And somewhere between a cabinet, a fridge, a table and a coffee machine, a truck has to fit as well.
From consumables to complete beds
Businesspoint does not have one kind of customer and therefore not one kind of logistics either.
One customer receives pallets of consumables. Another complete beds or custom cabinets. Through sister company Instyle Concepts, complete office, hospitality and care interiors are also realised, from design and drawing to delivery and handover.
That involves large conference tables, cabinets, kitchen units, fridges and coffee machines.
Large, heavy, sometimes fragile and above all: needed at the moment a project is ready for it.
“An order is only successful once the customer is satisfied. Only when everything arrives properly have we done our job.”
‘No’ is not the most interesting option
That actually says a lot about Businesspoint.
They do not simply sell whatever happens to be on a shelf. They look for what the customer needs and then try to get everything around it arranged as well.
That makes the range broad, but the logistics automatically less predictable.
Because a parcel can go perfectly well with a parcel service. A complete interior that has to go abroad quickly is a different story.
The results
And then DHL sometimes became a bit small
Before Cargors, Businesspoint arranged transport through DHL.
That worked fine, until the shipments grew larger and something had to go out quickly or last-minute more often.
That is exactly where a gap appeared between ‘we have found the product’ and ‘it is at the customer on time’.
Businesspoint therefore uses Cargors mainly for larger shipments with many products and for transport abroad.
Not because every shipment has to be made complicated. Precisely because the more complicated shipments have to be easy to arrange.
One week. One holiday home. A lot of moving parts.
Back to that holiday home.
Within one week it had to be fully furnished abroad.
According to Businesspoint that worked out through hard work, good planning and the efforts of the whole team.
And that is perhaps a better illustration of their logistics than any process diagram.
When a deadline is fixed, purchasing, planning, transport and delivery all have to come together at the same time.
The customer then mostly does not have to notice any of it. In the end they see only one thing: is everything there as agreed?
At the front, one familiar voice
Businesspoint wants to be one fixed point of contact for customers.
That sounds simple, but behind the scenes it means precisely that a lot has to be well organised. The customer should not have to call suppliers, producers and carriers together themselves.
Businesspoint does that work.
That is why they actually expect the same mentality from partners: involvement, clear communication and being able to switch quickly.
“What I personally value most about Cargors is the short line of communication and the flexibility. Things move quickly and agreements are kept.”
Good transport is a little invisible
Ask a customer afterwards which carrier delivered a cabinet, fridge or pallet and chances are they will not know.
Fine.
According to Businesspoint, what the customer mainly notices is the result of well-organised transport: deliveries that arrive on time and as agreed.
Behind the scenes, the gain for Businesspoint lies mainly in overview, rates and flexibility. Overview to plan and follow up deliveries, sharp rates to stay competitive and flexibility to move along when a project changes.
At the front, exactly what Businesspoint wants to convey then remains: one party that arranges it.
So: do challenge them
A broad range sounds commercially attractive. Operationally it mainly means that you never quite know what has to go out the door tomorrow.
A pallet of consumables. A custom cabinet. A fridge. A complete interior.
Or indeed a holiday home abroad that has to be ready within one week.
Businesspoint solves that by working smartly with reliable partners, making clear plans and continuously keeping an overview.
Cargors is one part of that, behind the scenes.
And perhaps that is exactly the intention.
The customer does not need to hear a logistics story.
